40 medal events to be held on the second day of the BRICS Games

On June 14, the second competition day of the BRICS Games in Kazan will determine the champions in artistic gymnastics, sambo, synchronized swimming, wushu, rowing, karate and table tennis. In total, athletes will play for 40 sets of medals.


The karate competitions at the BRICS 2024 Games begin. They will last two days - June 14-15. More than 220 athletes from 19 countries, including Russia, Brazil, China, UAE, Venezuela, Bahrain, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Turkey, India and others, will compete for championship titles. For men and women, there are bouts in five weight categories, as well as performances in the Kata discipline.

Russia will be represented by the leaders of the national team - Ernest Sharafutdinov, Ilya Savin, Eduard Gasparyan, Anna Kudryavtseva, Altana Basangova, Anastasia Chupina and others.

The competitions will start at 10:00 and will be held at the St. Petersburg Volleyball Center. During the day six sets of medals will be played: "Kata" for women, as well as bouts for men (60, 67 and 75 kg) and women (50, 55 kg). The finals will begin at 18:30.


The Gymnastics Center will host the final competitions in individual disciplines: vault and uneven bars for women; floor exercise, pommel horse and rings - for men. The performances will start at 15:00.

Olympic champions Nikita Nagorny, David Belyavsky, Artur Dalaloyan and Angelina Melnikova will compete for medals, as well as winners of the BRICS 2024 Games in all-round events Daniel Marinov and Leila Vasilyeva, World Cup medalist Alyona Tsitavets from Belarus, athletes from Thailand, Turkey and Mongolia.


The Boxing and Table Tennis Center will host the medals in the men's and women's table tennis team tournaments on Friday. China-India and Russia-Iran will meet in the women's semifinals. In men's table tennis, the Russian athletes will face the team of the Republic of Belarus, and China will play with Iran.

Matches ½ finals and for 5-8 places will start at 10:00. Spectators will be able to watch the final matches, which will determine the strongest in team competitions, from 17:30.


The sambo competition program of the BRICS Games will end on Friday. Seven sets of awards will be played - in weight categories of 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg and over 80 kg for women and in 88 kg, 98 kg and over 98 kg for men.

From 11:00 at the Ak Bars Wrestling Palace there will be preliminary bouts and consolation bouts, as well as bouts for 3rd places. Finals will begin at 16:30. Particular attention of the audience will be paid to the World 2023 champion Daniela Zhdan from Belarus and Russian Ksenia Zadvornova, as well as to the world champion from Kyrgyzstan Zhamalbek Asylbek Uulu.


On Friday, five more sets of medals will be awarded in synchronized swimming at the Aquatics Palace.

Athletes from Russia, DPRK, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Venezuela, Thailand and Uzbekistan will compete for places on the podium in three events:

solo, women's and men's free program (beginning of performances at 10:00);

duet, free program for women and technical program for mixed pairs (15:00);

group, technical program (19:00).


In rowing on June 14, six sets of awards will be played. At 10:00, the semifinal heats for 2000 meters in single, double without rudder and single lightweight for men and women will start. The top athletes and squads will compete in the final heats at 3:00 p.m. on the same day. The competition will be held at the Rowing Sports Center.


In wushu, the second day of competition will begin at 10:00 with quarterfinal matches among men (52, 56, 60, 65, 75 and 85 kg) and women (48, 56, 65 and 70 kg). And from 16:00 will start the final competitions in Taiji Jian, Changquan and Nanquan for men, and Nandao, Gongshu and Jianshu for women.


Men's and women's team tournaments are gaining momentum at the Kazan Tennis Academy. 96 athletes continue to fight for 2 sets of awards.

The group stage at the BRICS Games will be held until June 16, the final games in the team tournament will be held from June 17 to 19. The start of the matches on Friday is 10.00.


The men's and women's badminton competitions will continue at the BRICS Games Badminton Center. In the morning from 10.00 a.m. games in subgroups in doubles and mixed doubles will be held, and at 15.00 a.m. matches up to 1/2 finals in singles will begin.

In total, participants will play 5 sets of awards, and the first final matches will be held this Sunday, June 16.
