The fifth day of the BRICS Games will feature tennis, basketball, wrestling and diving matches.
Wrestling
Freestyle, women's and Greco-Roman wrestling tournaments will kick off at the BRICS Games. Bouts between freestyle wrestlers are scheduled for June 17-18, women's wrestling competitions will be held on June 18-19, and Greco-Roman wrestlers will take to the mat on June 19-20.
In freestyle wrestling medals will be played in weight categories up to 57, 61, 65, 65, 70, 74, 79, 86, 92, 97 and 125 kg, in women's wrestling - up to 50 kg, 53 kg, 55 kg, 57 kg, 57 kg, 59 kg, 62 kg, 65 kg, 68 kg, 72 kg and 76 kg, in Greco-Roman wrestling - 55 kg, 60 kg, 63 kg, 67 kg, 72 kg, 77 kg, 82 kg, 87 kg, 97 kg and 130 kg. In total - 30 sets of awards.
The wrestling tournament will be held at the Ak Bars Wrestling Palace. Preliminary bouts on Monday will begin at 11:00, 1/2 final bouts - at 18:00.
The main favorites of the tournament will be representatives of the Russian national team. World champion Abasgadzhi Magomedov (up to 65 kg), European champions Kurban Shiraev (up to 70 kg), Vitaly Kabaloev (up to 55 kg) and Emin Sefershaev (up to 60 kg), Olympic medalists Ekaterina Bukina (up to 76 kg) and Sergei Emelin (up to 63 kg), as well as other famous wrestlers will compete for the team. Belarus will be represented by the bronze medalists of the European Championship 2024 Alesya Getmanova (up to 59 kg) and Kirill Maskevich (up to 87 kg), winners of the last BRICS Games Arina Martynova (up to 55 kg) and Anna Maskevich (up to 87 kg). Wrestlers from Brazil, Syria, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, China, Uzbekistan and other countries will also compete.
Diving
Diving competitions will be held at the Aquatics Center. Three sets of medals will be played - men's 10-meter tower diving, women's three-meter springboard diving and mixed tower diving. Among the participants are European champion Nikita Shleikher and Olympic medalist Alexander Bondar, European champion Yulia Timoshinina and the winner of the BRICS Games in tower jumping Victoria Kazantseva, athletes from South America and Asian countries.
Preliminary performances will begin at 10:00, finals will start at 16:00.
Tennis
The Kazan Tennis Academy will host play-off matches of men's and women's team tournaments. The matches will start at 10:00. The men's teams will meet the teams of Russia and India, Belarus and Uzbekistan; the women's matches will be held in pairs Uzbekistan - India and the Serbian Republic - Iran.
Basketball Tournament
On Monday, the group stage of the basketball double-header at the BRICS Games will come to an end. The centerpiece of Group A is the match between Uzbekistan and Brazil, who have three wins each without a loss. They have already guaranteed their passage to the semifinals, the only question is the distribution of first and second place in the group. The other teams will face consolation matches - Cuba will play against the Serbian Republic and UAE.
In Group B, Belarus team has a big day - it will face Colombia and Russia. Victory in at least one of these matches will take them to the semifinals. Russia with three wins has guaranteed itself a playoff spot. The game against Belarus will only determine the fate of the first place in the group.
