Finals day at the BRICS Games in badminton, table tennis, wushu and track and field athletics

The BRICS Games are gaining momentum in Kazan.

Badminton

On Sunday, five sets of BRICS Games medals will be played in badminton. The finals in mixed doubles, women's and men's doubles and the deciding singles matches will be held at the Badminton Center. Russian badminton players Sergey Sirant (singles, doubles), Artur Pechenkin (singles, doubles), Maria Golubeva (singles, mixed doubles) and Evgenia Kosetskaya (singles, doubles) will play in two finals at once. The start of the games session is 12:00.

Athletics

The second and final day of the athletics tournament at the BRICS Games will determine the winners of 21 sets of awards. The competitions will be held at the Central Stadium and will start at 10:00.

Men's medals will be awarded in the 200m and 800m races, 110m hurdles, 3000m hurdles, 10000m race walk, 4 x 400m relay, javelin and discus, triple jump, pole vault and decathlon.

The women will determine the winners in the 200m, 1500m and 5000m, 110m hurdles, 4 x 400m relay, long jump, high jump, hammer throw, shot put and heptathlon.

2015 world champion and three-time European champion Sergey Shubenkov will take part in the 110m hurdles, 2012 Olympic silver medalist Elena Sokolova will compete in the long jump, pole vault spectators will see 2018 European Championships silver medalist Timur Morgunov, and five-time Russian champion Maxim Yakushev will compete in the 3000m steeplechase. Track and field athletes from Belarus, Uzbekistan, India, China, South Africa, Pakistan and other countries will also take to the start line.

Diving

Diving competitions will start at the Aquatics Palace. Athletes will compete for 10 sets of awards. On Sunday, the BRICS Games champions in men's 3-meter springboard diving, women's 10-meter tower diving and synchronized mixed 3-meter springboard diving will be determined. World champion Evgeny Kuznetsov, Olympic medalist Alexander Bondar, European champions Nikita Shleikher and Yulia Timoshinina, athletes from Brazil, Venezuela, Uzbekistan,

Belarus, Ecuador and other countries will compete in Kazan.

Table tennis

The table tennis tournament will feature men's and women's singles playoffs. Athletes will start with the ⅛ finals stage at 10:00, and the deciding matches will start at 18:00. Earlier, the tennis players of the Russian national team won the team tournaments and will perform in singles as well.

Wushu

The final day of Wushu competitions at the BRICS Games will be very busy and intense - athletes will play for 16 sets of awards. From 10:00 at the TATNEFT Arena the Taolu singles will begin: men will reveal champions in Shuangdao, Taijiquan and Chaijiquan/Huajuan styles, and women - in Nanjiquan, Baguazhang and Shaunjian.

And at 15:00 will be the culmination of wushu tournaments in sparring format - finals for women (48, 56, 65 and 70 kg) and men (52, 56, 60, 65, 75 and 85 kg). On the tatami will meet the best of the best at the BRICS Games, which went to this point all the previous three days of competition.

Rowing

Basketball doubleheader

On the second day of the basketball doubleheader there will be seven meetings on virtual and real courts. Ten participating teams are divided into two groups, the top 2 from each group will advance to the semifinals. So far, only Group A has an obvious leader - Uzbekistan, whose team has two victories on the first day. It will face Republika Srpska, which has one win and one loss. Also in Group A will play Brazil and Cuba, as well as the UAE and Brazil.

In Group B, the hosts will play two matches in one day - Russia will face Armenia and then Colombia. Abkhazia also has two matches - against Colombia and Belarus.

Tennis

Tennis players will play the final games of the group stage in the BRICS Games team tournaments. The national teams of Russia and Abkhazia, India and Republika Srpska, Belarus and Iran and other teams will play on the courts of the Tennis Academy. The matches will start at 10.00.

BRICS Games Ambassador, Olympic champion Alina Zagitova will visit several sports venues (Rowing Center, Aquatics Palace, Basket Hall) and hold a meeting with volunteers.
